(From an email to labor and community supporters)
“As I’m sure you’re aware, politicians in Lansing have begun their lame duck efforts to weaken democracy and harm Michiganders. Legislation is moving quickly to gut the paid sick leave and minimum wage initiatives, in addition to attacks on labor unions, workers, women’s health, the environment, recreational marijuana, and much more. They’re also stripping powers of the incoming Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General.
In order to defeat these attacks, we need a strong show of solidarity across our communities and issues. We’re all under attack. We must send the message that the people of Michigan are watching and taking action. Here are some of the ways you can get involved:
1. Sign the Petition:
AFT has produced a form letter that you can send to your representatives to oppose two pending House bills that will weaken K-12 public-sector unions. Please follow this link to learn about the bills and send a letter.
